Service Overview

We make web applications fast in the way that actually counts, which is field data from real users on real devices and networks, not a lab score from a developer laptop on office wifi. Work starts with measurement: Core Web Vitals from your actual traffic, segmented by device class, connection, and geography, so you know whether your problem is Largest Contentful Paint on mid range Android, layout shift from late loading images, or interaction latency from too much JavaScript on the main thread. Then we fix in order of impact, usually image and font strategy, bundle size and code splitting, third party script governance, caching and rendering strategy, and server response time. We pair that with analytics that answer product questions rather than producing vanity dashboards, including conversion funnels, event tracking with a schema your team agrees on, and privacy compliant setup that does not depend on cookie consent to be useful.

Our Delivery Process

We use an agile, transparent process to ensure your project is completed on time and meets exactly your needs.

01

Field data baseline

Collect Core Web Vitals from real traffic and segment by device, connection, geography, and page template.

3-5 days
02

Diagnosis

Trace each failing metric to its specific cause rather than applying generic advice.

3-5 days
03

Prioritised fixes

Work through images, fonts, bundles, third parties, caching, and server time in order of measured impact.

2-4 weeks
04

Analytics implementation

Agree the event schema, implement tracking, and build the funnels your team will actually use.

1-2 weeks
05

Budgets and guardrails

Add performance budgets to CI so a regression fails the build instead of reaching users.

3-5 days
06

Verification and handover

Confirm improvement in field data over a full measurement window and hand over dashboards and documentation.

2-4 weeks
Why Us

Why Choose SoftwareCrafting?

  • Performance measured from real users, not a lab score
  • Fixes prioritised by measured impact rather than guesswork
  • Faster pages on the mid range devices most visitors actually use
  • Layout shift eliminated, which is the most irritating defect to users
  • Interaction latency reduced by cutting main thread work
  • Third party scripts governed instead of accumulating silently
  • Performance budgets in CI so regressions never reach production
  • Analytics that answer product questions instead of filling dashboards
  • Event schema agreed once, so data stays trustworthy over time
  • A clear line drawn between performance work and business outcomes
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Our Lighthouse score is good but the site feels slow. Why?

Lighthouse is a lab test on a simulated device and connection. Real users are on varied hardware, real networks, with browser extensions and cold caches. Field data from actual visitors regularly tells a different and more useful story than the lab score, which is why we start there rather than optimising for a number in a tab.

What is Interaction to Next Paint and why does it matter?

It measures how long the page takes to visually respond after a user interacts, and it replaced First Input Delay as the responsiveness metric in Core Web Vitals. It is usually the hardest of the three to pass because the cause is main thread work: too much JavaScript, expensive event handlers, and heavy re rendering. Fixing it means doing less work, not deferring it.

How much traffic improvement should we expect?

We do not promise a traffic number, because Core Web Vitals is one ranking signal among many and content relevance dominates. What is reliably measurable is user behaviour: bounce rate, pages per session, and conversion rate on the improved templates. We instrument those before and after so the effect is visible rather than assumed.

Will you break our analytics or marketing tags?

No, but we will audit them and show you what they cost. Third party scripts are frequently the single largest contributor to slow interaction. We measure each one, present the performance cost against its business value, and let you decide what to remove, defer, or move server side.

Can analytics work without cookie consent banners?

For most product questions, yes. Cookieless, privacy respecting analytics gives you page views, referrers, funnels, and aggregate behaviour without personal identifiers, which avoids consent requirements in many jurisdictions and avoids the data loss from users declining consent. Where you genuinely need cross session user identity, we set that up properly with consent handling.

How do we stop performance regressing again?

Budgets in continuous integration. We set thresholds for bundle size and key metrics, and the build fails when a change exceeds them. Without that, performance work decays within a couple of quarters as features are added, which is the usual pattern.
